Intersociety Quiz

Intersociety Quiz 2009 - Wakering played host to the event on Monday 23rd March and are proud to announce that they won the competition, the final scores being: 1st - Wakering with 65 points; 2nd - Basildon with 62.5 points; 3rd - Wickford with 58.5 points; 4th - South Essex with 56 points

The Wakering team comprised of Dave Shearing (Captain), Gill & Threadgold and Jim Bishop and real time score collation went hi-tech this year using a laptop and digital projector. After the first four rounds Wickford were just in the lead and Wakering were last. Members of the audience also took part in the quiz and were awarded with small prizes including a 'Booby' prize of a lemon to the member with the least points.

At the end of the evening John Threadgold presented John Skinner with a gift of an electronic picture frame on behalf of all four societies to say 'thank you' for serving as our quizmaster for the last 25 years. John Skinner was asked to present a similar gift to his assistant Roger Payne who throughout that time has assisted with some excellent questions.

Wakering & District Natural History Society wish to thank all of the teams and their supporting members for attending and making the evening most enjoyable.
